Since 2021 Irene hosts outdoor dance workshops and general outdoor life experiences
Out Door Dancing Trekking Swimming Sauna Agriculture
Set in the idyllic Tuscan countryside at only 15km from Florence, this period of dance studies is an opportunity to research, recharge, walk, swim and explore outdoor life.
We will dance in an open air environment with national and international artists masters in the contemporary dance field and improvisation.

How We Will Host You
DANCING
If you come from Florence you are welcome to commute and take the workshop, in which case, make sure you have a car! We can arrange a lift for you if you are stuck.
Surrounded by nature and art you can both practice dancing and have a wonderful time. You are welcome to swim in the pool during breaks and book lunch if you like.

DANCE & RETREAT
If you come from outside Florence you can have a true retreat style experience you can use a swimming pool, a sauna, walk on Monte Morello and spend time outdoor.
We arrange accommodation, food and transport to the site. Book a room or choose a camping accommodation in a tent.
We do welcome families and partners if they wish to hang out during your dance studies period.

3 days 25-26-27 April 2025
Flying Low & One Minute Solo Workshop
with IRENE CIONI and film maker ALEX PARKINSON
Curator and host of the Dance Retreat Project, Irene will be leading three days where she will share all her knowledge of David Zambrano’s technique FLYING LOW focusing on how to integrate his teaching methods into your own practice. This will lead towards the afternoon session dedicated to ONE MINUTE SOLO work. Working with film maker Ale Parkinson to capture the essence of your concept you will get a professionally filmed edit of your solo.
You are invited to participate, dance, experiment, choreograph, improvise sessions dedicated to research, study, experimentation and choreography.

If you come from far and want an all inclusive experience here is what you need to know: we are a group of neighbours who collaborate to create 3 to max 4 dance event per year. Located far from any shop we offer :
Breakfast, lunch and dinner provided by lovely host from the valley.
Meals will be absolutely delicious with veg, vegan, gluten free options. Products are organic and local.
Accommodation is available either in single room, we have double rooms too at 3 min walk from the dance platform or alternative accommodation like camping.
The schedule varies with the sun, we will take longer lunch breaks if it is hot. In case of rain we will move indoors in a different location.
Sigle meals and single nights bookings are possible in some cases.

TRAVEL INFO
Pescina is the rural area. It is part of Vaglia, a town situated in the province of the city of Florence.
We offer one station pick up and drop off to either Vaglia station or Florence station. Alternatively, there is free onsite parking should you wish to drive.
Florence to Vaglia (Station) by train
The train journey time between Florence and Vaglia (Station) is around 28 min and covers a distance of around 18 km. The fastest train normally takes 22 min. Operated by Trenitalia,
the Florence to Vaglia (Station) train service departs from Firenze S.M.N. and arrives in Vaglia. Typically 100 trains run weekly, although weekend and holiday schedules can vary
